Confirmed: Jolla Will Release SDK and Code to enable building Sailfish on other hardware
We’ve just had confirmation via an official tweet that Jolla will indeed be releasing SDK and Code to enable Sailfish to run on other hardware like for example the Nokia N950.
I suppose this means that the Nokia N9 will most probably fall into this category too which – if true – is excellent news!
.@cael_gomes We are releasing the SDK and code that can enable building Sailfish on a number of hardware such as N950.

Make sure to follow www.sailfishos.org for more details.
Apparently the build is already possible for anyone with the right technical ability:
@cael_gomes Keep following sailfishos.org, you can build it already now.

@Jolla Mobile Are you releasing any smartphone now? If not now – when it will be possible to buy a smartphone with sliding qwerty from you?
Jolla said they will release/launch/present there first device in December, at least before Christmas. But maybe it’s better to not directly buy the first device as maybe Jolla will also sell a second developer device (probably with qwerty hardware keyboard), which for some people might be more interesting!
Watch the latest video interview: http://jollatides.com/2012/11/21/jolla-interview-why-should-you-care/ here you will see that they plan to release a device by summer 2013.
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I need a new smartphone right now and I do not imagine using something without qwerty (sliding) keyboard. Maybe you can tell me what is worth to use until Jolla releases their smartphone?
For a few thousand euros you’ll get a N950 from someone
I saw one on fleabay a few months ago but it had a cracked screen and was priced around 300 Euros. The others I’ve seen in good condition have all gone for 600 Euros plus…

Wrong… They only ever said they’d reveal pricing/availability by Dec, they never said it’d be available then.
And that’s now changed to: pricing/availability being revealed in Q1, with the device guaranteed to be purchasable (assuming you’re somewhere where that’s convenient) by Summer 2013.
This is good news indeed….now we wait for someone with the technical know-how to hook us up
GET TO WORK EVERYONE!
