Marc Dillon: The ENGADGET Interview
Really nice interview with Marc Dillon interviewed by Myriam Joire from Engadget.
Marc is in a reflective mood after the obvious success and excitement of Jolla’s MWC 2013 appearances.
There’s some nice history mentioned about Nokia, Maemo, MeeGo, and once again he mentions that a device will be ready in the 2nd half of 2013 ready for Christmas and Chinese New Year.

In November they said that the device would be ready for this summer.
You’re right and in most European countries ‘summer’ runs until July/August/September which are all months firmly in the 2nd half of the year when Jolla plan to make their release. Anyhow, as Marc said this will be their debut product so they want to make sure it is perfect. If that means waiting a little longer, then it is worth the wait IMO.
In their early tweets they mentioned 2012 availability. They should have been careful from the beginning to give any dates timelines since getting a whole product out while negotiating contracts, fundind etc is so tricky and suprises are expected.
I dont mind, though. My N9 will live long and possibly could get unofficial Sailfish version. For setting up the ecosystem, they should get Sailfish ported to some Android devices and/or N9xx, so that they dont miss too much time.
I only wish for one thing and one thing only Hardware keyboard!
+1 please give us a choice of having a hardware keyboard please and as durable as N9 (but a bit bigger)
Put a simple hardware button to answer incoming calls on the upper right hand side.
no no…………… ugly idea
Ugly idea? A take call/end call button is damn practical!
When calling someone and it rings for the 4th time, i want to end the call to avoid the dreaded voice-mail.
The time it takes to bring the phone down, the screen to turn on and then find the onscreen end call button is just too long.
I want to be able to end the call when the phone is still by my ear.
Such a button was the only thing missing on the n900.
As for your post below, I hope for this: http://mynokiablog.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/rm-742-4.jpg (from jolla running sailfish)
i hope for a n9 like pure touch phone and e6 like qwerty phone from jolla running sailfish
Portrait qwerty like E6 = low screen real estate…. just saying.
