MeeGo Team to continue(!): enter Jolla
Jolla Mobile have been born to carry on flying the Linux based MeeGo flag in future handsets.
Jolla Mobile have been born in the wake of key Maemo/MeeGo developers leaving Nokia. This definitely is the best news I have had all year!!!
The company is a startup with 50 employees and plans to release a meeGo based phone in 2012.
No mention of hardware at the moment or an ETA, but they are working to get a MeeGo based UI out on a handset as soon as they can.
I’m secretly hoping they will have some kind of 3rd party arrangement with Nokia to make the hardware for them with Jolla branding.
Do you think I’m dreaming ?!
