Sailfish UI Introduction:
I want more information. The demo was quite short..
Looks completely awesome
The demo was awesome. what a beautiful UI…even better than i expected.
obviously everyone else also noticed the droid that popped up? Dalvik support?
Confirmed in Q&A… You can run Android apps on top of Sailfish OS.
Looks pretty darn good!
I hope you can develop meego well for we like her so much! The UI is so beautiful and attractive!I am just a Chinese but I hope you can make a different future!
UI is beautiful but they should change icons for something better
You’re right for icons. I hope Nokia would at least allow them to use the harmattan icons as Nemo Mobile.
For those who missed this. Sailfish OS is Android compatible! Yes, you can run Android apps on top of Sailfish OS.
Confirmed via Q&A!
I want this OS now!
Yeah, me too…
very nice to keep developping “nordic operating system”
you have your own design philosophy and it’s great
is there same multitasking than meego harmattan?
will it be possible to instal jolla on nokia n9?
I think you’d probably be able to flash it on the N9 when its made available… but most likely with limited features. probably the same errors with NITdroid (phone calls, camera, etc wont work)
Well, as they are showcasing Sailfish on n950, there are probably every needed driver already available… And since n9′s/n950′s hw is similar there should not be problem to port it to n9. Even Jolla confirmed this on twitter.
N9 with sailfish would be awesome and just rock!
Support for Android apps and a beautiful UI…..I want it. Any changes we can get a device in Q1 2013?
UI and business models are over expectations. Jolla can change the game.
This mostly looks like a mashup between maemo 5 and harmattan with the added addition of states on widgets (allowing a widget to have multiple states you can browse through) and the ambience feature.
While I like both of those UI’s I see a couple of horrors in here:
1. “effortless” does not mean “have to drag down a *hidden* menu, then drag down the *hidden* menu to show a *even more hidden* menu”.
2. Ambience, while giving a nice touch and feel to things, breaks the concept of pattern learning making it harder to pick up and just know what everything means.
That said, I see on really sweet possibilities here just waiting to be capitalized on:
Widgets allowing you to browse content based on context (Music player that plays an album could allow you from the widget to either play/pause current track which would be default action of clicking the widget, but they could also use leftright flipping to allow you to browse the contents of the current context, ie, the album tracks. A game emulator could allow you to change games this way, consider that you have 5-10 favourite games and you enter the favourites folder in the emulator, start a game and play for a while, then minimize it to a widget. flipping the widget could give you the option to start a new game easily).
This video of sailfish on N950 is more comprehensible http://www.katsomo.fi/?progId=154747
The irony of it all is that video can’t be seen without Silverlight, and as a linux user, I’m dead in the water.
The main thing I want to know: is the UI customizable? Can I decide which icons and apps are front and center in the launcher? Or on any other screen for that matter?
I really like it,it’s much better than the “A” OS, is the SDK available?
i am from china , i like jolla’s ui ,so beautiful,i hope jolla will be give chinese a suprise, best wish
Short demo….With this it is budget os.Descent….Let see full demo….
chinese need change
Did you see at second 50 the Android dude on the screen… runs all android apps?
